![]() ![]() Here’s something I cut out about the book from some magazine back in the 90s, mostly because I like the Tarot-style art. I know the Orientalist and historically inaccurate description of Persian culture at the time would piss me off this time around, but it wasn’t something I noticed back then. I haven’t re-read it in 20 years now, and have no idea if I’d still love it, or find it too over-romanticized. When I did read it, it didn’t annoy me at all, but made me cry my way through about three boxes of tissues, for several days. ![]() I remember when I first saw Kay’s Phantom on a table in a bookshop, and thought “What? No! No one else can possibly tell Erik’s story and get it right, that’s MY story!” And bought it immediately, then didn’t read it for several months as I was sure it’d annoy me. Don’t know who the artist is as can’t find my actual copy right now. I always preferred the initial UK paperback cover art of Susan Kay’s Phantom over the US cover. ![]()
